I am writing to request clarification and assistance regarding an issue observed with the
VigorAP 1070C when operating with
6 GHz enabled.When the 6 GHz band becomes available, the access point automatically enforces
WPA3‑Only security on the associated SSID, in line with Wi‑Fi 6E requirements. However, when
802.11r Fast Roaming is enabled under these conditions, client devices experience repeated
disconnection and reconnection cycles during roaming events between access points.
The behaviour is reproducible and presents as:
- Multiple drop/reconnect sequences when transitioning between APs
- Instability limited to configurations where WPA3‑SAE and 802.11r are active simultaneously
- Normal operation restored when either 6 GHz is disabled (allowing WPA2) or 802.11r is turned off
This suggests a potential incompatibility between
WPA3‑SAE and
802.11r Fast Transition on the VigorAP 1070C platform.I would be grateful if you could confirm:
- Whether WPA3‑SAE and 802.11r are intended to be fully interoperable on the 1070C;
- Whether this behaviour is a known limitation, firmware issue, or configuration constraint;
- Whether a recommended workaround or forthcoming firmware update is available to address this roaming instability.
