Pardon me if this has already been implemented in DrayOS v5 (All my current equipment is still on the older version), but it would be great to be able to add names, labels or comments to LAN's and VLAN's in the web GUI. If you have quite a few setup, it would be very helpful to be able to label LAN's as, for example, 'Office', 'CCTV', 'Guest', etc, so one could see at a glance what's what, without having to remember / keep a spreadsheet. I believe this is a feature in quite a few other products out there.

Yep I agree - I currently have to note them all in our documentation platform but would be handy to be able to label them in the router so I can see at a quick glance.

I’ve very little confidence that anything currently running DrayOS 4 will ever be upgraded to DrayOS 5.
I’m not sure it’d be considered worth the risk/expectations of breaking existing devices. I’ve got the highest spec router they do (I think - 3912s) and that would probably be the best candidate but no sign and no even vague comments when I’ve asked on webinars.
I’d love to be wrong tho!

Replied by ianfretwell on topic FEATURE REQUEST - Add labels to LAN's and VLAN's.
They've (Lukasz) already confirmed no DrayOS 4->5 in various webinars - you must have missed the right ones!

@amadeus - I think I read somewhere that this is actually a hardware limitation - DrayOS v5 is only supported on certain CPU architectures, used in some of the newer products...

This is actually all the more reason to implement my suggestion in an update to v4 - many products which are supposedly going to be supported for quite a number of years will be running v4, and this feature would be a great enhancement.
Maybe also a feature to allow 'comments' on firewall rules etc, or at least allow a few more characters in the name. Would make management so much easier.

Hi Ian, you've heard explicitly that they're going to release DrayOS5 to the 3912s or just that (some) devices will be upgraded with no detail?   I'd be very happy if it was to be done and happy to be stand corrected.  Many thanks!
